21 Weeks!

Thursday we had our half way ultrasound done on Fritsch baby #2. It was one of the best ultrasounds we have ever been too. Ethan cared for the first 2 minutes and then didn't care at all. Everything passed with flying colors and from his measurements he is already weighing 1.3 oz which is in the 98% for week 21.
Here are some pictures of the little guy.

Should we go back to bed? Nah!

This is what we woke up to this morning...

But by mid day most of it had worn off and right now most of the mountains have been melted as well. Here are some pics I took at lunch while Ethan and I drove around.

The Table

For a while now we have been looking for a new table, I say we but really I mean me because I had a look in my head that I wanted and could never find. This July we went over to the Antiques Fair at Teton Village and I met up with Bill and Nick from Affordable Antiques. They are the ones I usually get any antique from. In our conversations about tables he showed me a table he had brought up to use as a display. He wasn't selling it up there but said he would sell it to me out of the SLC office. It took all of 2 seconds and the mention that they would refinish it in whatever color I would like for me to say yes. Bill looked at it with me and said he liked it so the deal was done. I sent some of the stain we used in our home down with MomF and Leslie to drop off to him to refinish it.
About 3 months later and a lot of drama we now have a new/old kitchen table. It took them 2 rounds to get the top to take the stain and unfortunately, but fortunately they were unable to stain the legs due to a wax coating that had been put on them and over time soaked into the legs. However we brought it in the kitchen and set it up trying to decide what to do with the legs and the more we look at it, the more we love it just the way it is.
Now if only we could find some chairs!

I go to school?

Saturday I discovered Ethan loves backpacks. He was wearing our neighbors backpack she had just bought for her little girl, so when she had to go he was quite distraught. Luckily Michelle from 31 Bags found a boy backpack she had for sale and he put that one. He looked so old it was scary.
The best part about it was when he put it on Saturday, he looked at all of standing there and asked if he could go to school. It was one of the cutest things ever. After a little bit he decided he was going to school so he turned to me and said "I get on the bus." and walked to the end of the driveway.
Honestly I don't think he has taken it off unless we have made him. He has now slept with it for 3 nights. He loves to just wear it everywhere. I love that he is already that excited to ride the bus and knows that the bus takes you to school.
This pic is from Sunday where he had to wear the backpack to church with his books and cars in it. He put it on and said "It's pretty heavy." It was really cute.

It's Potty Training Time!

I have a ton to blog about and no time to do it in. Not to mention the fact that I somehow uninstalled my CD drives on my computer so I am not able to get any pictures from Bub and Kim's wedding on this computer. When I figure out how to get that working or figure out how to get the pictures I want off the disks I will update on their wedding.

In the meantime let me tell you about the last 2 weeks of our life.
As many know I have been trying to get Ethan interested in Potty training off and on the past little bit with no bites. Well 2 weeks ago Bill and I decided that enough was enough. We waited through that weekend since we had a road trip planned and didn't want to start things off bad. Monday let the potty training begin.

Day 1: Monday comes around and as soon as Ethan is up I'm fighting him to sit on the potty and go. He ended up getting just about everything taken away that first day and he still fought me on going into the bathroom. I had to keep telling myself to just stick with it and see what happens. I'm sure everyone knows how hard that was.

Day 2: Tuesday. Another morning of fighting, but this time he was willingly going into the bathroom, just fighting me with sitting on the toilet. Lunch time rolls around and I tell him he has to go in and go so we can eat lunch. So he goes in the bathroom and starts playing with everything. When I get in there he has put all the t.p. he rolled off in the garbage and tried to put everything else where it went so he didn't get in trouble. Cute, but not when your potty training. I sit him on the toilet, he's fighting me the whole time. After a couple min of putting him back on I finally get frustrated, pull him off the toilet, stand him in the tub and said Fine, pee then. He looked down then looked back up to me, said "Okay" and peed in the tub. And there was my epiphany! We cleaned everything up, had lunch and played with toys until nap time. Before nap I had him go again but this time I showed him to put cherrios in the toilet, stand on the stool and try to shoot the cherrios. He loved putting the cherrios in there, didn't quite get the point of them, but he went none-the-less. The rest of the day when the timer went off he was ecstatic about going to the bathroom.

Day 3: Wednesday. Morning was great. Went to the bathroom when he got out of bed no problem. Then I'm not sure what happened but he starting fighting me on everything, and I mean everything. The simplest things like breakfast turned into a fiasco. By lunch time he had cleaned up one accident and had told me he didn't want to eat lunch. The next time the timer went off I said lets go in and go potty. He looked at me, said "No", turned around and proceeded to pee all over the floor. Then as we were cleaning it up off the floor he stands up and does it again. At this point my emotional level had been spilling over due to the pregnancy hormones anyway, so this was like a damn breaking. Apparently Ethan doesn't like it when mom has a breakdown and had a breakdown of his own. So after we both calmed down, we sat and talked about what happen. I know he is only 3 but something clicked with him seeing mom sad and he didn't like it. So the rest of the day when the timer went off he would run in and go. Each time I told him how much that made me happy and how much I loved him.

Day 4: Thursday. Ethan wakes up exceptionally early for him and goes in without a problem. This continues the rest of the day and he was able to earn his toys and movies back. He was loving life. At this point Bill and I realized he had not pooped in 2 days so I was watching him carefully getting ready to run him in there, or try to support him so he wasn't afraid. Well I didn't have to do either, however it isn't what your thinking. He had been running into the bathroom every 10 - 15 min so I figured he probably had to go. I'm in the kitchen cleaning up from lunch and I hear little feet run into the bathroom, I can hear him peeing and then he says Mama come here. I walk into the bathroom and there he is, standing on the stool naked from the waist down showing me how he peed in the potty. However my eyes didn't go toward the toilet, instead they went to the stool. Apparently he didn't quite understand that when you pee standing up you have to turn around to poop in the toilet, so instead he pooped standing on the stool.
I was so happy that he had made it to the bathroom and had peed in the toilet that all I could do was laugh. Ethan cleaned it all up and didn't think anything of it because of the log that it was. However when we flushed the toilet, up came another problem... It had clogged the toilet. After finding the plunger and spending 15 min in there everything started working like normal. When I called Bill I was laughing so hard.

Day 5: Friday. Had a great morning and it seemed as though something had clicked for him because he was loving the underwear and was telling me when he had to go instead of using the timer. We had the same incident as yesterday with the pooping right before lunch so I tried to explain it again while trying not to laugh to hard. We got everything ready for our trip to Utah, stopped 3 times on the way down and didn't have one accident. It was GREAT!

Saturday was the same, no accidents, laughing at him pooping while he was standing. Even being away from home and not on our normal schedule he did great.

Sunday we went to our nephew Bryce's "not a homecoming" and left for home in the evening. Still no accidents, but also no poop yet, so when we stopped at Arbys for a bathroom break I asked if he had to go and he said yes so I had him turn around and everything went great! He was so proud to come out and tell Papa that he pooped in the potty.

so far this week we have had only 2 accidents. He had figured out to turn around and sit to poop and yells "everyone, everyone come here" when he does.
Overall as hard as it was going through the process it is just as Grandma Fritsch said, "Just remember this will all be just a blink." And it has, I can't believe it was only last week. We now have a cherrio dunker!

Fun in Utah

We've been spending some time in Utah the past couple of weeks. Last weekend we were down for Uncle Bubba's wedding (my brother). I will post more on that as soon as we get more pictures in from everyone.
The weekend before we went down for the MLS All stars vs. Everton soccer game held at the Rio Tinto stadium. It was a lot of fun. Ethan went with us and of course was bored by half time. But the game ended in a shoot out down on our end so we were loving it.
Then we spent the next couple days down at Mom and Dad Fritsch's cabin in Fairview, Ut. We took Ethan swimming, the water felt like it was 50 degrees so it didn't last very long. Went on a bunch of rides, we took Bill's bike down so he was able to play around the hills with Dallin. Ethan never wanted to get off the big 4-wheelers and when he did it was only to swing or get on his little 4-wheeler.
We had a great time being with family and just taking time to relax.
Enjoy the pics!

Working in the yard

Over the weekend Bill got the chance to play in the yard with a skid steer. He had a lot of fun. Ethan joined him for a bit and had a blast in the "tractor".

More visitors!

Over the 9th - 12th of July Bill's sister Leslie, her two girls Sara and Shelby and Grandma came up to visit while Leslie was visiting UT. I'm still waiting on some pictures but here are a few of Ethan and Shelby.
We had a great time letting the kids play and just hanging out. It was great to see them since we're not sure when we will be seeing them for a while.

LOVES

We're Expecting!

As of tomorrow I will be 9 weeks along. We are due Feb 16th. Everything is going great. I'm loving every min of the morning (all day) sickness and everything else that has already changed. Ethan doesn't quite understand what is going on. When we tell him he just asks to see the baby. He will get it eventually.
Thanks for everyone's thoughts and prayers!

Visitors for the 4th

For the 4th of July my parents, Bub (Jeff)and Kim, Lisa and Andrew and Dixon (Brandon) all came up to celebrate with us her in Victor.
It was a lot of fun having that many up at one time. We went for a hike up to Mudd Lake. Big Congrats to Mom for making it the entire way! Went to Bubba's for breakfast. Watched the parade go down main street. Ate at The Spud. Rode the monster truck and just chilled with everyone.
It was a fabulous time. We miss them already.

Martins Cove Trek

First off let me just say if anyone has the chance to go on this trek please make the time. It is worth every moment.
We started Thursday morning bright and early, meeting at the church at 6 am. It was awesome to see everyone dressed in costume and to see how many in the ward were actually going. I think we ended up with close to 200 people (children included), somewhere in the area of 43 families.
We arrived at Martins Cove about 1 and had to scarf down sandwiches before we went into the meeting house. There we listened to one of the missionaries talk about Martins Cove and the significance it has, watched a short movie and then headed out to the handcarts. This was a little pull so we didn't have any assigned carts or anyone we needed to stay with so everyone went where they could. The men pulled the carts about a mile where there was a pavilion set up. From there we left all the kids younger than 7 to play games while we went up into the cove. We first stopped at a little area (sorry I can't remember the name) and had a presentation. a few members got up and recounted the stories of the pioneers they were assigned to. It was very good. After we keep going up and around the mountain into the cove. It was very beautiful. After getting to the top and listening to the stories from the missionaries you could see why they went so far off the trail to find shelter from the elements. We then walked down through the cove and back to the pavilion. Ethan looked like he had a great time while we were gone playing in the water then the dirt.
From Martins Cove we drove back about an hour to the Willie Handcart Center which is where we set up camp. We pulled up and watched the mosquitoes swarm the car. Wasn't a good sign. We found the bug spray, got out and showered in it. That night we had a great dinner, good conversation and then everyone went to bed to get ready for the treks the next day. That night the winds came through the valley and were so noisy Bill and I decided to take the rain fly off the tent so we could get a little sleep.
I got up the next morning, went outside the tent, looked at the skies and woke bill up noting we better get the rain fly on the tent pretty quick. Luckily for us we were able to get it on in plenty of time before the rain started. After breakfast everyone packed up what we needed in the handcarts and headed on the trek. Everyone was allowed to bring a bucket per family to go in the handcart. you could pack whatever you wanted in it, what ever you thought you might need anyway.
The rain started a little before we left so we had to duct tape Ethan's poncho to him so it would stay on.
We were assigned to share a cart with the Robinsons and the Colsons. Bill, Dave and Jared pulled the cart while the rest of us walked behind. Well except Makinly and Ethan who were ecstatic to be sitting in the cart.
Our trek was supposed to be about a 4 mile trek. There was a 10 mile trek that was an option as well. We all left together, in the rain, and the mosquitoes that liked being out in the rain. For the most part we were on a small handcart trail but with all the rain they had received parts of the trail had been washed out so we had to go around and through the mud and the creek/river was too high for us to be able to pull the carts through the water. We got to the womens pull area and an army recruiter came into the group and told all the men they were now enlisted in the army to help in the Mormon Battalion. He gave them a min to say good bye then all the men left marching around the corner. Now I can only give you my side of things, but it was interesting to look at the different reactions people had to this. There were a lot of kids that didn't understand what was going on, or didn't understand they really weren't leaving.
So all the women got together, loaded up the carts with kids and buckets, decided who would be best where to pull or push the carts and one by one we started pulling. It really wasn't bad at first, until it started getting steeper. The last leg of the pull was up this rocky hill that was steep just to walk up without pulling anything. All the men were positioned on each side of the hill with their hats off. Because they were no longer a part of our company they were not allowed to speak or move. They had to let us do it on our own. Bill said that was the hardest thing to just stand there and watch knowing you couldn't do anything to help. Of course we were the 3rd to last cart to go up the hill, I had no idea where Bill was even standing because I thought if I try to find him I'm probably not going to make it up. Not to mention all you could see of them was about from their knees down because you were digging your feet in the ground and at such an angle that was all you could see. Heidi and I choose to pull the cart while Allison and a couple of the older kids pushed from behind. Luckily we had "Angels" (other women) who came down the hill and helped pull and push each cart until they were all up. I don't know if we could have done it without their help. At the top we had a little devotional and then turned around and headed back.
We were supposed to keep going along that trail but with the rain we had to turn around and follow the trail we came in on. When we got to the river they let those who wanted to cross by holding onto a rope. It was very neat to watch those go across.
Ethan literally fell asleep when we came down the hill toward the river. He stayed asleep the entire way back into camp. Through all the mud, holes, rocks and bumps the cart went through.
We got back, had lunch, took naps and waited for those on the 10 mile to return. That night after dinner they had a fireside with people portraying some of the pioneers. Unfortunately when Bill and I went to put Ethan down we stayed in the tent talking and ended up falling asleep, so I'm not sure what else went on that night.
Sat morning everyone got up, had breakfast, packed up and headed to Rock Creek. There we had another fireside and got to learn about that areas significance.
We left for home about 1:30.
It was one of the most spiritual experiences I have ever had.

A patriotic mind

Ethan was out coloring on the driveway with sidewalk chalk and had to show me what he drew. When I asked him what it was (just to make sure) he said "Stripes and Stars" which is what he calls the American Flag.
